What is Parent Blame and FII ( Fabricated, induced illness )
Many families don’t realise they are experiencing parent blame until the damage is already done.
FII Isn’t an Illness — It’s Often a Devastating Misjudgment
Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) is one of the most distressing allegations a parent can face. But in many cases, what’s framed as fabrication is actually a request for additional support — especially for children with complex needs, neurodivergence, or hidden disabilities.
It often starts subtly: professionals questioning a child’s needs, doubting a parent’s account of their struggles, or blaming families for a child’s inability to attend school. Parents seeking support, whether through education, social services, or healthcare, can find themselves under scrutiny rather than receiving the help they desperately need.
In some cases, this escalates to Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) allegations, tearing families apart and leaving lasting trauma.
The Parent Blame, FII and Trauma Conference is a one-day online event for parents/carers and professionals being held on Wednesday the 7th of May 2025.
During the day, we will hear from some of the UK’s leading professionals as they unpick what is Fabricated or Induced Illness, what can parent/carers do when they’re accused, and the lasting trauma that parent blame causes families.

FII & Parent Blame: For Charities & the 3rd Sector
Why Your Charity Needs to Attend the FII, Parent Blame & Trauma FYI Conference
If your organisation supports families, children, or neurodivergent individuals — this conference is essential.
Across the UK, families are increasingly being misunderstood and falsely accused. Charities and community organisations are often the first to witness the harm caused when parent voices are dismissed, neurodivergence is misinterpreted, and trauma responses are misunderstood as cause for concern.
Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) allegations are rising — often rooted in systemic misunderstanding, not malice. These false accusations devastate families and fracture trust, and they often disproportionately affect those with disabled or neurodivergent children.

Why Attend?
By attending this conference, your charity will:
• Gain tools to better support families at risk of parent blame or FII allegations
• Understand the systems and patterns that lead to over-intervention
• Learn how to advocate effectively for families navigating education, healthcare, and safeguarding challenges
• Receive clear guidance on how to support families under investigation or in crisis
• Build confidence in identifying when concerns are rooted in misunderstanding, not neglect or fabrication
• Earn CPD accreditation for professional development
• Access all webinar recordings for 3 months after the event — perfect for team training or flexible learning
This event is more than CPD — it’s about creating safer, more compassionate systems where families feel seen, heard, and supported.
Be part of the change.
