and Suzan Issa from Raising a Wild Child.

I personally know the feeling of running on empty.

I remember many years of our families personal struggles and challenges. Suzan and I have brought this course to you because…

The normal to-do list as a parent is already exhausting but the emotional and physical stress of raising a neurodivergent family takes this tiredness to a whole new level.

Your home feels like a war zone at times, treading on eggshells has become the new normal because you just never know when the next volatile explosion will be.

And not just from the kids.

Living with this level of anxiety takes its toll and you find yourself snapping, shouting, making up punishments on the spot, out of desperation.

You know this isn’t helpful, especially after the 3am research about the utter uselessness of traditional ‘behaviour management.’ But it is genuinely hard to break out of the reward and consequence dynamic because it’s all you’ve known.

But you’ve had enough. It can’t go on like this, something needs to change.

And we all know that real change starts with us.

NVR is an approach that has been directly taken out of Gandhi's playbook. He managed to remove the British Empire using these methods without raising his voice so we can surely remove the physical and mental violence from our homes, peacefully.

However, NVR is not always enough for neurodivergent children, especially PDAers.

NVR in its original form can be quite prescriptive and often lacking the flexibility that is needed for our families.

Suzan Issa has taken it one step further and put a therapeutic lens on it.

As an ex Headteacher and Manager of a PRU, Suzan has dedicated her life to supporting neurodivergent children, motivated by the lack of support she knows all too well, from her own experience.

Suzan is a fellow autistic PDAer.

This is not a course run by neurotypicals telling you what your family life should look like. This unique and life changing approach has been developed by someone who really gets it from the point of view of the adult and the child.

This course is for parents who fundamentally believe their child is good and doing their best. They know that their child’s behaviour isn’t personal or manipulative, it is just their way to communicate.

But, even though they know this, in the heat of the moment, it feels so challenging to be objective and calm. They don’t want to punish or fight, they want to find a better way.

This course is for parents who recognise that they need to look at their own communication and behaviour too because as a family unit, working together is key to navigating this daily pain.

This course is NOT for parents who want another parenting tool to control their child and force them to listen and do as they are told.

This course is NOT for parents who are unwilling or unable to explore and adapt their own behaviour or who think there should be one rule for adults and another for children.

Because that approach will never work for PDAers and will keep adding to the anger in the house.

It’s time to ditch the rewards and punishment. It’s time to lean into understanding, acceptance and connection for the whole family.

Here’s what Parents said about October’s workshop with Suzan

J.N

That’s a great little intro Nicola! This is so exciting. I did NVR but it wasn’t tailored towards children with SEN. This is therapeutic, trauma informed, by an autistic adult. Brilliant! I feel I’ve reconnected with my child and am now learning hope to implement some boundaries.

K.G

I found Suzan really helped me think about my own anxieties and triggers and knowing when I need to take a step back and re-evaluate the situation. I will certainly be more aware about this for the future. Thank you so much!

R.M

Learning about NVR was an instant game changer. There is a future where we don't have to argue all the time or feel like we are standing on egg shells. This hope is worth its weight in gold alone.

E.M

Immensely supportive, insightful and nourishing. Suzan has given us a whole new level of acceptance, self forgiveness and reassurance.

Programme content

What is included in the course?

  • The difference between traditional NVR and NVR through a Therapeutic Lens
  • Your emotional triggers, responses and behaviours and how you can respond in a healthier way
  • How to discern and decide which of your children’s behaviours to address first because we can't do everything all at once.
  • Guidance on how to plan your strategy so you can address a behaviour effectively without causing more conflict.

Session  1 -

Discover the fundamentals of NVR and why the therapeutic version Suzane has developed is more effective with neurodivergent children.

Get practical, in the moment, strategies to help you face explosive behaviours peacefully.

Learn how to stand firm with agreed, suitable boundaries without contributing to the conflict.

Understand what emotion these actions activate and where this comes from.

Plan how to manage these triggers in a healthier way to avoid making matters worse.

Session 3

Reflect on your children as humans and create a deeper understanding of why they behave the way they do.

Make an extensive list of the unacceptable behaviours and decide what to let go, what to negotiate and what is non-negotiable.

Face your fears and create a realistic vision for your family that you can work towards.

Session 4

Plan and create your ‘letter from the heart,’ the therapeutic way to announce the new chapter you will all be starting together.

Have a simple, structured process to follow to make this easy.

Learn how to challenge behaviour without hurting or humiliating.

Bonus Session:

A webinar by Suzan talking about the nervous system.

This webinar  will provide clarity on the role of the nervous system in demand avoidance. Also why Pathological Demand Avoidance has developed the reputation of being an anxiety disorder.

Also a 19 page document from a Q&A hosted with Suzan.

After having time to implement and practise the process taught in NVR Through a Therapeutic Lens. You may find that you have very similar questions from families that have already accessed the TNVR.

as there’s often similar questions being asked.

Yes please, I need this. I have had enough of arguing.

Don’t wait to start changing the lens that you look at your child and their behaviour through.

When the course is over you will have access to the content, allowing you to rewatch, revisit and regroup as many times as necessary.

Imagine how it would feel to finally let go of feeling on edge. To trust yourself not to fly off the handle and trust your child to make better decisions about their behaviour.

What if this was your moment? A shift in your family life could start here and now with Therapeutic NVR, you won’t even need to Google it at 3am.

All the answers are right here.

Your family deserves better.

You deserve better.

There is another way.
